A Call to Compassion – why last rites matter for animals!

Every living being including voiceless animals deserves dignity and respect not only while they are alive but even when they die. Performing last rites for animals should neither be neglected nor carried out just as a part of the rituals. It should be carried out as a practice and a testament to our humanity. We can support this cause by donating, volunteering or just spreading awareness. When we acknowledge animals as souls rather than property, we take a firm step in creating a more balanced, compassionate and ethical world. This concept is rooted in empathy and reflects a society’s collective moral progress.  If last rites are executed in a planned manner, they also benefit the environment. Improper disposal of animal remains can lead to contamination and disease, creating unhealthy living conditions.

Radico Khaitan and SATHEE Foundation have embarked on a significant partnership to support the importance of last rites for animals. This initiative promotes helping “you say goodbye with grace and love!” by facilitating pet cremation services including pet burial, pet electric cremation, pet asthi visrajan, and pet ashes plantation.

As part of their focus on animal welfare and care of living animals, this collaboration recently distributed essential supplies including fresh green fodder, oil cakes, cottonseed, fruits, and jaggery at Nandini Park Gaushala, located on Rajnagar Extension Road.

Nandini Gaushala is dedicated to the well-being and care of cows and cattle. The facility maintains high standards of hygiene and nutrition, ensuring the animals receive proper attention, nourishment, and a peaceful environment. Contributions from donors by supporting in any way that they can is encouraged and they are also invited to visit the Gaushala and witness and appreciate the efforts put in by the staff working there. Radico and SATHEE Foundation are striving towards ensuring that people come together to give animals the compassion and dignity that they deserve during the entire cycle of life and death. A holistic approach to animal welfare is promoted – one that includes nourishment, healthcare, compassion, and a respectful farewell. In a world where animal rights and welfare are fast gaining support, the aspect of providing a dignified farewell is still being overlooked.

Drawing inspiration from this powerful quote – “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Radico and SATHEE Foundation are working dedicatedly towards ensuring that animals are taken care of while they are alive and given a farewell with dignity not abandonment. It’s time we all come together to honor the lives of animals with the respect that they truly deserve!
